MINUTES -- UPE Tuesday, Oct.15 ADVISOR -- After much coaxing and bribery, our new advisor is going to be Dr. Knox. She has a lot of great ideas for our organization, and has generously accepted our offer. Thanks Dr. Knox!! :) PETITION -- Dr. Knox's first official order of business as advisor was to sign our petition to become a recognized organization on campus. As soon as our constitution is complete, a representative from UPE will attend an SGA meeting and petition our existence as a real organization. Go UPE! CONSTITUTION -- Speaking of which, we came up with a working copy of the constitution last night and as soon as April prints it out, it will be ready to go. One of the amendments is the definition of an "active" member. Our definition of such a person is someone who participates in 75% of the meetings/activities of UPE. CERTIFICATES -- We got our official UPE certificates in the mail, so if you were not at the meeting, you might want to get in touch with LJ and figure out how and when you are going to pick yours up. They're very nice, by the way! INDUCTIONS -- We decided that we are going to be electing new members of UPE once per SEMESTER now, but only holding the ceremony once a year (in April, probably at Dr. Wolz's house again). FUNDRAISING -- Our big theme of the night was fundraising. It seems that we are $400 in debt from 1994, because UPE claims that they never received the new members dues that year. LJ is "investigating" the situation, but she doesn't think that we'll have to pay anything. Nevertheless, our bank account is currently at zero, so we have to start thinking about fundraising. Our first one will be this Sunday. It is a GRE Practice Test given by the Princeton Review to support us, the CS Club and ACM. We are charging 3 bucks for people to take it, so we'll be making $1 per person. Please spread the word to all of your friends... GRE Practice Test -- Sunday, October 20th 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Forcina Hall Room 130 If people are interested, they're asked to email the computer science club at csclub@tcnj.edu with their name, address and phone number. MORE FUNDRAISING -- We got this cool thing with all UPE paraphernalia that we can order, if we just had any money! This is why we have to fundraise. We are looking to buy UPE pins for all of us (and the new inductees, too) for $10 each, and possibly graduation stoles for the seniors to wear at the ceremony each year (for $25 each). So, we need some major cash! If anyone has any suggestions on where to get this money (legally), let us know. Well, that's about all. I'm thinking that the next meeting is going to be Tuesday the 29th, in keeping with the current schedule, but one of us will let you know. Have a nice day!! =)
