Below are the minutes for the UPE meeting held on 10/15/98

1.      Jen Drew, from the office of Alumni and Development Affairs, came
by to assist us in planning alumni events.  Some ideas which came out of
our meeting included:

        -       an Alumni mentoring program
        -       Alumni networking sessions
        -       Leadership Development Dinner [to coincide with the campus
                leadership development day on March 3rd]

Jen will be sending us more information on the Alumni mentoring program
which is already in existence in the School of Business.

2.      The Phone-A-Thon is scheduled for for November 11th and 12th.  Our
next meeting will involve training for the event.  We still need people to
sign up for time slots.  This is what the current schedule looks like:

3.      The Y2K lecture, given by Dr. Kubulis, will be held on Nov 5th.
Issues such as space and food will be discussed at the next meeting.
Avani has offered to draw up the ad for the signal.  We also need someone
to write up an invitation for the CS department and sent out an e-mail
inviation.

3.      The Dow Jones task force (tm) will report their finialized
conclusions regarding the prospective equipment donation at the next
meeting.

4.      Brice gave us the treasury report, and argued us up in regards to
our budget.  We began the semester with $72.00 and now we have $272.00.

5.      Erik got some more information about the T-shirts.  They will cost
us $8 / shirt to make, so we will probably sell them for $12 or so to make
a slight profit.  We still need quotes for all the faculty members AND a
picture from Dr. Knox :)
