Minutes - October 23rd, 1997

- New Inductees Membership Fee
Those inductees wishing to join UPE that haven't paid their $25 membership
fee should do so soon!  Please make checks payable to Dr. Knox.

- Phone-a-thon
The Phone-a-thon is scheduled for Monday, November 10th, and Tuesday,
November 11th.  If you have not signed up for a time slot yet, make sure
you do.  We need all the help we can get.  There are two shifts for each
night 6-8pm and 7-9pm.  This year we may have awards for those volunteers
who do the best.  Prizes and categories still to be decided.  

- Pretzel Sale
We are trying to have a pretzel again since the last one was cancelled.
We are looking to probably have it on a Tuesday from 8-5.  

- Beyond Graduation - Presented by last year's graduates
The Beyond Graduation event will be held on Tuesday, October 28th at
8:00PM in Holman Hall 253.  Bring copies of your resume, you may be able
to find an Internship or Employment opportunity.  Topics for the forum are
work and graduate studies experiences.  

- Programming Contest
We are looking for any companies that would be interested in sponsoring
and/or donating prizes for a programming contest.  Dave will be working on
writing up a letter requesting this type of assistance.  Anyone with any
ideas should contact Dave.

- Treasury Report
Our budget is now unfrozen due to the completion of some documentation.
We have $323.80 from the SFB.  $63.80 will be used for advertising, $200
for speakers, $50 for awards, and $10 for office supplies.  We also have
$370 from past fund raisers that we will most likely use for our upcoming
Alumni event for next semester.

- Announcements

The next meeting will be held in Holman Hall 253 at 8:00pm on Tuesday,
November 4th, unless otherwise notified through e-mail.

Career Services in creating a resume book for computer science majors
only.  This book will be passed around to employers for both full time and
intership opportunities.  If you're interested contact Career Services at
x2161.  Resumes are due to Career Service by Friday, October 23rd.

Fiona Apple Concert - If you're interested in working during the concert
see me to fill out a sign up sheet.

If you're interested in making $75 in one day, all you have to do is walk
door-to-door on election day, Tuesday, November 4th, from 8:00am to
6:00pm, see me for more details.
