MINUTES -- UPE

FUNDRAISING -- Our first order of business was to discuss the methods by 
which we'll attempt to get money for us (both for pins and graduation 
stoles).  We threw around a few ideas - a bake sale or pretzel sale in 
Forcina or getting a corporate sponsor for a table in the Student Center 
(possibly for phone cards).  If anyone knows anything about these things, 
please let us know.

T-SHIRTS -- As a recognized campus organization (hopefully, pending SGA 
approval), we would like to show our support for UPE by getting t-shirts 
made up that we would wear to encourage membership.  We need to know 
who's interested in getting one, so just email upe@tcnj.edu and state 
your position on the matter.

DR. KNOX -- Even though she's been totally bogged down in this whole 
accreditation thing, she has still found the time to offer some of her 
sage advice.  She thinks that we should encourage students in the 
department to interact more with industry, through speakers and possibly 
even corporate sponsorship of UPE events and projects.  If anyone works 
somewhere that might be interested in this sort of thing, let us know.
By the way, once the accreditation is over, she may be coming to our 
meetings, so show your support and come, too!

COMMITTEE -- After registration is over, we are going to be putting 
together a committee for deciding which students are eligible for 
December induction into UPE.  The guidelines by which eligibility is to 
be determined were outlined in past UPE constitutions, so it shouldn't be 
that hard of a task to do.

TUTORING -- The possibility of us offering volunteer tutoring for 
underclass Computer Science majors - or any majors, for that matter - was 
discussed.  If anyone is interested in doing this, email us with what 
topics you could tutor and when you would be available.

REPRESENTATION -- Finally, the idea of having student representatives at 
faculty departmental meetings was presented.  Again, if you're 
interested, let us know.

The next meeting will probably be Tuesday, November 12th at 8:00, but if 
it changes, we'll let you know.  Hope to see you all there next time!  We
