TCNJ Student Health Insurance Plan 2008-09 Waiver (OPT-OUT) Procedures
CHANGE IN WAIVER PROCEDURE & DEADLINES
- Fall 2008 semester - August 1, 2008
- Spring 2009 semester - January 1, 2009
DEADLINES ARE ABSOLUTE - THERE IS NO GRACE PERIOD.
Read the following information carefully before scrolling down to the bottom of the page to access the electronic waiver form.
Full-time students (undergraduates enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and graduate students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours) with other health insurance can OPT OUT of the student health insurance plan by submitted a waiver prior to deadlines listed above. Opting out (instead of opting in) of enrollment in the student health insurance plan is necessary in order to TCNJ to ensure compliance with N.J. State Law (N.J.S.A. 18A:62-15).
Part-time students (enrolled in less than 12 undergraduate credit hours or less than 9 graduate credit hours) are EXEMPT from this State Law.
Do NOT submit a waiver form unless or until the charge is posted on your bill. The waiver period starts when bills are posted online and ends on posted deadline dates for submitting waiver forms. View the TCNJ billing calendar.
Students will be sent an E-MAIL to their TCNJ e-mail account when their bill is posted online (see link above to billing calendar) and the link to WAIVER FORM is activated. This e-mail contains important information about your bill, including changes in business processes, and must be read. Students can then access the waiver form until the deadline date.
International exchange students are not permitted to opt out of this coverage.
You must pay your entire TCNJ bill including the student health insurance fee even if you have submitted a waiver form. Your account will be credited AFTER the waiver deadline date. If you prefer a refund, please contact the Office of Student Accounts.
Changes in the student health insurance waiver procedures will and do change. Students are informed of these changes promptly by e-mail to their TCNJ address. E-mail is the primary and official means of communication at TCNJ and students are responsible for the content of their TCNJ e-mail. It is a College expectation that students carefully read their TCNJ e-mail at least twice weekly YEAR-ROUND regardless of where they are.
Students may designate an alternate non-TCNJ e-mail address for billing notifications to be sent to the responsible bill payer (i.e. parents, guardian, work,etc...) by going to the Student Accounts' webpage - click HERE.
The Student Health Insurance Plan has been tailored to the needs of TCNJ students. We STRONGLY urge students living on campus or in off-campus housing to KEEP the student insurance plan. To find out why, click HERE.
Students who waive enrollment in the student health insurance plan, you MUST have your private health insurance and prescription cards on you at all times!
NOTE - By waiving enrollment in the student health insurance plan, you do not waive your eligibility to use TCNJ Student Health Services. ALL TCNJ Students currently taking classes can use Health Services for their interim acute health care needs. However enrollment in the student health insurance plan does make it easier and less complicated to access the health care services available on campus.
Please contact Student Accounts at 609-771-2172 with questions about the billing/waiver procedure. Contact Student Health Services at 609-771-2889 or by e-mail at hlthserv@tcnj.edu with questions about the student health insurance plan.
