Students Who Have Experienced the Death of a Parent
Wednesdays 1:30 - 3:00 P.M. (Starts 17 September)
This group is open to any TCNJ student who has experienced the death of a parent. It does not matter how recently or how long ago. It is a safe place to talk about this life changing experience. It is a place where you will be heard.
This group meets once a week for approximately 10 weeks each semester. Students have the option of remaining in the group for as many semesters as they would like. The group is closed to new members after the first two meetings of each semester.
The group can help you to:
- Learn you are not alone
- Learn from others who have lost a parent
- Learn how this experience affects you academically, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and romantically.
- Learn how to handle things such as holidays/special events, family and friends, guilt/shame/embarrassment, growing up too fast, memories, and feeling different.
Facilitated by: Carol Evangelisto, M.A., LPC, Counselor, TCNJ Psychological Counseling Services; and Kathy Ertel, M.A., Counselor, TCNJ Psychological Counseling Services.
