Gay and Lesbian
Literature primarily reflects on “literary” texts (novels, poems, and plays),
considering the aesthetics, politics, and history of gay and lesbian literary
production and consumption. With recent advances in cultural studies and queer
studies, this course will also embrace works that are sometimes situated outside
of traditional definitions of “literary” (children’s books, movies, and pulp
fiction), with an examination of the course theme from a variety of literary
methodologies, such as reader response criticism and discourse analysis. |
