The conference will take place on the campus of The College of New Jersey in Ewing Township, which is approximately 5 miles from Trenton, 10 miles from Princeton, and one hour from both Philadelphia and New York. Thornton Wilder had a strong connection to New Jersey from his having taught French at the Lawrenceville School from 1921 to 1928, with a break from 1925 to 1927 to earn a Master's Degree in French literature from Princeton University. No other state serves as the setting for part or all of a Wilder play, novel, or film as often as New Jersey. This program was made possible by a grant from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations in this program do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment for the Humanities or the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.
This program was made possible in part by the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission through funding from the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, A Partner Agency of the National Endowment of the Arts.
This conference was made possible with the support of The Department of English and The School of Culture and Society at The College of New Jersey.
