Q: When and where did Our Town open? A: Our Town opened on January 22, 1938 at the McCarter Theater, Princeton, New Jersey. The play was produced and directed by Jed Harris. Our Town is the featured work in our upcoming newsletter, where you can find a letter detailing Wilder's own reaction to the performance (he had a running discussion with Harris about lights) and a negative review featured in Variety. Wilder was immediately optimistic; Variety was not.
