American Association of University Women Program and Leadership Development Internship

AAUW Programs Department and Leadership and Training Institute is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student to assist with program and leadership development, basic research, evaluation and assessment. The intern will assist on a number of unique projects.

Initiatives include:

• Enhancing the College and University Partnership Program, grassroots programs and leadership development initiatives
• Planning and coordination for AAUW national meetings, conferences or conventions and helping to implement the annual National Conference for College Women Student Leaders.
• Additional opportunities exist to serve on multidisciplinary committees.

A minimum of 8 hours per week is strongly desired, and preference will be given to interns available for more time. Internships are unpaid, but may be used for academic credit. This position is ideal for students needing to complete a practicum or volunteering to gain community leadership experience.

Other varied tasks include:

• Composition of newsletters, such as an e-zine directed to college women students.
• Compilation and analysis of data from surveys.
• Research and assistance in development of new initiatives and grant proposals.
• Technical programmatic support to AAUW members and follow up with branches/states on program activities that promote education and equity for women and girls.

Students should have an interest in:

• Equity, diversity, multicultural, women’s and leadership issues
• Higher education or student development
• Applying good oral, written, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and plan ahead to meet deadlines
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Word, Excel, Outlook
• Desire to work independently and within a cohesive team
