Lambda Legal Web & Design Internship — Fall, Spring & Summer
National Headquarters, New York

Lambda Legal’s Education and Public Affairs Department based in New York City seeks a web and design intern for the fall, spring and summer semesters. This is an opportunity for undergraduates to gain hands-on web and print design experience at a national nonprofit organization specializing in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV civil rights law.

Responsibilities
The intern will assist the web and design manager with the daily responsibilities of web upkeep and publication design. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to strategic decisions, and will acquire real world experience with both the creative and managerial aspects of web and design work. The ideal intern will be self-directed and motivated to develop his or her own projects as the internship progresses.

Interns must be able to work 10 to 15 hours a week between 9:30 and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at Lambda Legal’s office, located at 120 Wall Street.

Qualifications
They are seeking one detail-oriented and well-organized intern with an interest in web and print design. A familiarity with issues that are important to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and people with HIV is not necessary, but will strengthen an application. Interns should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team and have some experience with Adobe Creative Suite and HTML.

Compensation
As this is a nonpaying position, applicants are strongly encouraged to seek out and apply for grants from their school or other sources.

Application
Applicants should send a resume and cover letter to Xavi Kingsbury, Web & Design Manager, Lambda Legal at the address below.. The cover letter should include the applicant’s hours of availability for the semester and the phone numbers and titles of two references. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer semesters.

People of color and people with disabilities, including HIV, are encouraged to apply. Lambda Legal is an equal opportunity employer.
